Mongoose on the Loose.

The rat race and stress made us look hard at our lives and we came to the conclusion that contrary to the popular saying “you only live once” we actually only die once, we live everyday. We sold everything and are now on a journey to do just that: live!!

15 Jun 26 We said goodbye to Marius, a new friend Muishond made at the campground. He is Lithuanian and gave us some valuable advice. We’re trying to outrun the bad weather - absolutely no luck. We traveled to Klaipėda, hoping to see some sunshine but the rain followed us. Back up a little for the next story. Way back in March 2025 when we visited our friends in Brisbane, we had a run-in with Cyclone Alfred. We all stayed on their houseboat for as long as possible and then all of us moved to higher ground. At the same time, a Lithuanian rower, on his way from San Diego to Brisbane got caught up in said cyclone. He was dramatically rescued by the Australian Navy and NSR. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2rupLUntDE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2rupLUntDE So today, trying to find our way to the ferry terminal, a tall, bearded guy stopped and asked if we needed help. I saw the Australian War Memorial badge on his shirt and pointed at it. He said he got it from the Navy 🙂. Turns out this is the guy who was rescued some 700km from us in Brisbane way back then. Aurimas Mockus. We caught a ferry and bus to Nida on the Curonian Spit. After setting up camp we took a quick walk to the beach. So near and yet so far. 😢 All borders are now closed. He was thinking about it… … until he saw this one. 🤣 Baltic Sea
